The Thermal Baths

With its prime location in Chianciano Terme, Hotel Villa Gaia is the ideal starting point for exploring the beauty of Tuscany. Surrounded by cultural wonders and breathtaking landscapes, the property offers convenient access to historical cities, renowned vineyards, and postcard-like views. A cozy and practical retreat for those who want to venture on unforgettable tours in this fascinating region.

From Hotel Villa Gaia, you can easily reach the thermal baths on foot. Because Chianciano, as you know, is famous for its thermal baths. The ancient Etruscan kings also came here to rejuvenate. Not to mention the fame this place earned during the period of the Roman Empire. A thousand-year history that continues today and makes our destination the go-to for many tourists who arrive with one desire: to feel good. And that’s what they discover, and what you will discover too.

In this corner of Tuscany, time seems to slow down, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the beauty of an embracing and rejuvenating thermal experience. Let yourself be captivated by the gurgling water and the endless bubbles with their beneficial, invigorating, and relaxing action, and discover the treatments and purifying waters.

Nestled among the green thermal gardens of Fucoli and Acqua Santa in Chianciano Terme, the therapeutic waters, as they flow, provide an ancient cure for the liver and digestive system. But here, relaxation is an art: explore the 4 fascinating Sensory Paths – Relaxing, Balancing, Purifying, and Energizing – a sensory journey of about 3 1/2 hours for those who wish to regain balance and vitality. And for a supreme wellness experience, let yourself be carried away by the magical Theia Pools: inaugurated in August 2013, this thermal paradise boasts 7 pools, of which 4 are outdoors and 3 are indoors, for a total of over 600 square meters of waters at 36°C. Here wellness can be inhaled, imbibed, and taken home.

The Baths of San Filippo

Located at the foot of the Amiata mountain range in the Val d’Orcia, Bagni San Filippo is the first stop for those coming from the Cassia 2 highway on their way to the mountains. Historically famous for its thermal springs, in recent years it has seen a significant increase in visitors. Every year, thousands of tourists are attracted to the warm sulfurous waters of the Fosso Bianco, which meanders among oaks and holm oaks, forming a series of pools where bathing is possible. The temperature of the waters varies according to the proximity to the different springs, reaching as much as 48°C. A natural attraction of extraordinary beauty is the “Balena bianca” (“White Whale”), a massive limestone formation that has gained fame thanks to National Geographic’s online information. Also present is a historic spa, open during the summer, which offers swimming pools and a wellness center, providing exceptional all-natural therapeutic and beauty treatments due to the healing properties of the sulfur waters, sediments, and mud present.
